Our College

Library

When our college started in 1971, our library made a modest beginning with only 100 books. We did all the work manually. However, today we have a huge computerised library. All the library data are available on computer. We can check the library holdings on computer within seconds at the click of a mouse.

The library has a rich collection of Science, Commerce and Language books. We also have good collection of books necessary for competitive exams like - GRE, GMAT, CAT, Railways, Air Force, Banking, etc. We have a UGC Book-Bank scheme for poor as well as meritorious students. Under this scheme we issue a whole set of books to every deserving student for the entire session. More than fifty students avail themselves of this facility every year.

Total number of books available at present in our library are 39115. The general break-up of the books is as follows :

1. Degree Science : 16548
2. Degree Commerce : 4966
3. UGC Dev. Grant. : 4444
4. UGC Basic Grant. : 2071
5. UGC Book Bank : 1559
6. UGC Voc. Biotech. : 106
7. UGC Special Assistance : 39
8. MCVC : 428
9. Non-Vocational Grant : 17
10. Junior College : 8937

Total number of Books : 39116

We have a separate reading room where about one hundred students can be accomodated at a time. Most of the renowned newspapers(English, Hindi and Marathi) are available in the library. The students can also have magazines and journals in the reading room for spot reading and reference.

We subscribe to atleast 25 magazines for our staff and students. We also get science magazines like Computers Today, CHIP, DIGIT, etc. We also get few journals for our science students. The library remains open from 7.30am to 5.30pm. Generally the heads of various departments select and recommend the books for the library. We also welcome ideas from staff members and students from time to time.

Our library has been growing by leaps and bounds under the kind guidance of our Principal Dr.B.B.S.P.Nag and Vice-Principals Prof. A.K.Sharma, Dr.S.C.Gulane and Dr.P.G.Joshi.
